College International Executive Group (CMVM) Remit

Global impact 1. To oversee international recruitment and advertising on behalf of the College; 2. To develop a proactive approach to international recruitment that will: " Increase the proportion of international students from beyond our five most well-represented countries (Strategic Aim 8.0); " Develop the European postgraduate market: recruitment, mobility, EC funding; " Increase the headcount of non-EU international students (Strategic Aim 8.1); " Increase research grant income from international sources (Strategic Aim 8.2); " Increase our number of masters students (Strategic Aim 8.3); " Increase overall student fee income. Management Information 3. To obtain reliable data on numbers of overseas students and their derivation; 4. To investigate institutional barriers to overseas recruitment such as funding mechanisms; 5. To obtain information on university attitudes and policies which help or hinder overseas recruitment; 6. To review scholarship provision for overseas students; Partnership 7. To investigate further scope for delivering taught programmes through distance learning and international partnership; 8. To facilitate the development of joint programmes and joint research by arranging networking events; 9. To increase the number of our research publications which are internationally co-authored (Strategic Aim 11.0); 10. To increase the number of PhD students on programmes jointly awarded with international partners (Strategic Aim 11.1). Student experience 11. To address student welfare issues (induction, facilities, generic training, supervision, travel, contacts, accommodation, understanding of cultural differences) if students are to have a high quality experience in Edinburgh and encourage colleagues, friends and family to return; 12. To create new opportunities for students to gain an international experience as part of their Edinburgh Degree (Strategic Aim 7.3). The International Executive will be supported by occasional themed meetings, open to all interested members of the College.
