SCIENG Quality Assurance Committee Intranet Remit

The College Quality Assurance Committee (CQAC) is responsible for overseeing College Quality Assurance matters for undergraduate, postgraduate taught and postgraduate research programmes, and ensuring high quality student support and academic standards. The Committee acts as a forum for the discussion and promotion of developments in academic standards and quality assurance, whether internally driven or externally indicated.
The Remit of CQAC is to:
  • Develop and monitor the implementation of policies and procedures for Quality Assurance across the full college provision in line with University expectations to ensure systems used by Schools establish and maintain appropriate standards for courses and programmes, assessment and teaching.
  • Review the continuing development of Schools’ Quality Assurance Models, in the light of internal changes and external requirements.
  • Review and comment on University academic regulations and procedures.
  • Support Schools’ engagement and response to External Examiner Reports, Teaching & Postgraduate Review Reports and the reports of external bodies accrediting degrees and courses within the College.
  • Collaborate with College Education Committee (CEC), College Postgraduate Research Committee (CPRC), and College Curriculum Approval Board (CCAB) in quality enhancement through the recognition and encouragement of innovative good practice.
  • Provide a forum for discussion of all aspects of Quality Assurance as it pertains to undergraduate and postgraduate provision within the College.
  • Promote a culture of reflection, excellence and innovation, maximising individual potential and satisfaction of students.
  • Scrutinise academic standards, including Degree Classifications.
