SPS Student Recruitment and Population Planning Committee Remit

The remit of the SPS Student Recruitment and Population Planning Committee is:

  • To maintain an overview of UG and PG student population (size and composition), tactical planning, prospective opportunity identification, diversification strategy and longer-term student target setting (access/foundation to PGR);
  • To have oversight of, and report and make recommendations to the Head of School and SPS Management Committee on, strategic recruitment and population planning priorities for the School, within the wider context of College's Student Recruitment Strategy; 
  • To receive, consider and respond to reports from subgroups, forums, networks, working/task groups and other committees (at subject area, School and College level) as relevant and appropriate;
  • To solicit, consider and respond to issues raised by relevant teams, subject areas, programme directors and PG advisors with regards to recruitment and population planning;
  • To ensure SPS strategic planning relating to student populations and portfolio management is consistent, and aligns with, University strategy, e.g. Widening Participation targets;
  • Understanding and enhancing diversity (monitoring application, offer and entrant profiles, exploring and improving opportunities to widen access – local and global - at all levels, UG and PG);
  • To review programme portfolio and sustainability, including cases for new or re-introduced programmes, or discontinued programmes, alongside the respective UG or PG Board of Studies.
